CURB MARKET - The Franklin Curb Market opens for the season from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 12th Street near the courthouse. It will be held every Saturday and offer fresh food, homemade goodies and other items. CHARITY FASHION SHOW - Amy’s Closet and Sassy’s Gifts will collaborate with the Barrow-Civic Theatre to hold a benefit fashion show event at 10:30 a.m. It will showcase new fashions available in downtown Franklin and include refreshments, prizes, entertainment and an award presentation. Tickets are $15 and available online at www.barrowtheatre.org. TWEEN BEACH PARTY - Barrow-Civic Theatre will hold a Remake Learning event from 6 to 8 p.m. The tween beach party is open to ages 11 to 16. It will include karaoke, and learning songs and dances from "Team Beach Movie." Wear your favorite 1960s beach attire. The cost is $5. May 17
COMMUNITY DINNER - Franklin First United Methodist Church will hold a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The menu is meatball subs, tossed salad and dessert. HOLeY Jeans will perform. May 18
COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS - The Franklin Public Library continues its series of speakers about a variety of topics from 6 to 7 p.m. most Thursdays in the second-floor community room. The May schedule includes May 18 - Alien vs. Native Species, DNCR and Bureau of Forestry. FUNDRAISER CONCERT - United Way of Venango County will be hosting a fundraising concert with Lisa Bodnar and Whistlegrass from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wanango County Club. Ticket proceeds and 10% of food sales will benefit the United Way of Venango County. PRESERVATION AWARDS - The Oil Region Historic Preservation Awards ceremony will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City. The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m., a tour of the building/sanctuary at 6:45 p.m., and the awards ceremony at 7 p.m. There is no cost to attend the award ceremony, but pre-registration is appreciated. ADULTING 101 - A Car Maintenance workshop will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Paul from Inspection Plus will be teaching some car maintenance essentials, like what type of fluids a vehicle needs and where to fill each, where to find tire specifications and how to safely jump a vehicle. Registration should be done online. CONCERT - The Georgia Thunderbolts will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Barrow-Civic Theatre. Tickets are $25 and can be ordered online at www.barrowtheatre.org. May 20
THEATER WORKSHOP - The BTI ”From Page to Stage: Creative Theatrical Design” worshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. In this two-hour, hands-on, class will design costumes and scenery for "Cabaret." All ages who would attend a performance of "Cabaret" (PG13) are welcome to attend the class. Cost $10. PRESERVATION WORKSHOP - Franklin Preservation will hold a workshop titled "Researching Your Home's History" from 10 to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. at the Venango County Courthouse and the Franklin Public Library. The cost is $20. Register and payment can be made by calling 814-346-1782. SUICIDE AWARENESS 5K WALK/RUN - The Venango County Suicide Task Force will host an untimed walk/run to raise suicide awareness and prevention. The event will include an obstacle course - one for adults and one for kids. Registration will be held from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. COLOR RUN - Sandycreek Elementary School is putting on a fun run at 9 a.m. at the Franklin portion of the bike trail. CONCERT - The Venango Chamber Orchestra will give its annual spring concert at 3 p.m. at the Barrow-Civic Theatre in Franklin. It is free but donations are accepted. May 23
JAZZ CONCERT - Franklin Area High School will present the 28th annual FHS Jazz Festival! at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Special Musical guests will include Max Schang (guitar), Dr. Scott Meier (tenor saxophone) and Dr. Micah Holt (trumpet). Free admission. May 26
SEWING WORKSHOP - Back by popular demand, Terrie Grove will teach a Sewing Workshop for ages 12 to 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Franklin Public Library. Participants will practice the ladder stitch by creating a stuffed bear. The class is free and all supplies will be provided. Register by calling the library at 814-432-5062. May 26 and 27
RED EYE THEATRE PROJECT - The Barrow-Civic Theatre's Red Eye Theatre Project challenges participants to put together a complete production from start to finish in just 24 hours. Auditions will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 26. No preparation or experience is necessary. At 8 a.m. May 27, the directors and casts will get together to get their scripts and start the daylong process of putting together their acts. At 7:30 p.m. that night, the show will go on. It is free to participate. Tickets to the show are $12. May 26 to 29
BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL - There is no admission fee to attend the 2023 Bluegrass Festival at the Venang County Fairgrounds. Campers are welcome all weekend. Food will be available. Stage performances will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday. May 27 and 28
BOAT RACES - The American Power Boat Associations will hold races at Justus Lake with Two Mile Run County Park. June 1, 15 and 29

CONCERTS - Alfresco Fridays has a full lineup of live music at Bella Cucina and Benjamin’s Roadhouse on Liberty Street. Concerts begin at 5:30 p.m. at Benjamin’s and at 6 p.m. at Bella Cucina. Concerts will be held every Friday starting June 2 and will run through August 25 and will feature performances by several Taste of Talent winners and competitors. CONCERT - SICKNESS, a local noise rock band, will play a free concert at 6 p.m. on the Oil City Library's historic theater space upstairs. Band members include Dillon Dean (lead guitarist), Lucas Peterson (secondary guitarist), and Aaron Crosmun (drummer). June 5 and 6
AUDITIONS - Those interested in performing in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" in concert auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. August 11, 12 and 19, and 2 p.m. August 20. June 8
