Feature photograph of the day
Alan Schiller made this bust in 1966. Today during a work session at the Graffiti Gallery where the committee(which I am one of now) cleaned up the gallery space and set up some work that could be viewed from the large street level windows. Schiller, a Vietnam War veteran poet that said he was a draft dodger so he joined the Navy. He said he was opposed to the war and would write about his thoughts in verse. He wasn't going to display anything but after a bit of conversation and minimal coaxing we were able to convince him to hang a couple of his stained glass pieces and this bust.
The gallery isn't yet open, but there is art that can be viewed through the Seneca Street windows and the committee is working on some other ideas to be sure we don't lose touch with the arts during this COVID-19 scare.
Here Stewart Armstrong moves a pedestal in place for Schiller's piece.
