Memorial Day means something to Mark Barker of Diamond.
His dad served in Korea, his granddad in World War II. They are both buried in the the Titusville's Woodlawn Cemetery. On Saturday, Barker was busy helping to put flags at the graves of this loved ones as well as other deceased veterans.
A veteran himself, the 56-year-old has been putting flags out since he was eight. "The first few years I had to go around with my dad," he said. After that he said he got the meaning of placing the flags on each grave and has looked forward to it every year since.
"You learn a lot looking at the grave markers," he said. With each flag, he has a quiet private moment, a thought or remembrance for each stone.
On Saturday, he and several members of his family, along with friends and others from the  community  put out over 700 flags in a matter of just a few hours.
Barker, who said he served during peace time, is also proud of his son who served in Iraq.
Generations who have served and continue to remember and honor other veterans.
