Thursday night's talent show at Rocky Grove High School showcased mostly vocalists, a couple dance numbers and a creative series of skits where each performance was introduced by the last line of each of the sketch's scenes. The innovative storyline woven in-between performances throughout the night was written by the teacher Jodi Hoover and the student performers and featured a funny case of mistaken identity in a "Dr. Who" styled skit.
One highlight was seeing how so many of the performers, who are used to performing in front of a crowd as athletes, show they have other talents and are more rounded individuals. Bittersweetly, two of Thursday's performers will miss tonight's performance because they are members of the District 10 champion cross country team. That group got on a bus today to head to Hershey in preparation for Saturday morning's Class A State Championship meet. After their performance Thursday, they got cheers for their performance, but a little extra cheer send off for the weekend.
Other performers will be back on stage at 7 p.m. this evening for the second showing of their talent showcase.
