It was Sawyer Wolfkiel's night.

141 matches ago he did not have a varsity win. But after Tuesday's win over a very good Union City wrestler named Van Ward, he found himself with ninety-nine W's and plenty of time to get his name up on the 100 win banner in the Titusville Rocket gymnasium.

But he wasted no time.

In the second period of Thursday night's match he put Eisenhower's Huck Fedorchuk's shoulder blades flat on the brown and gold mat underneath the spotlight and etched his name in the 100 win club at the school. He became only the 14th Rocket to reach this milestone.

"It feels good, it's definitely been something that has been on my mind for sure, it feels good to get it out of the way kind of," said  Wolfkiel who came in to this season just needing just eight wins to reach 100.. "That's been a goal, but now I've got bigger goals," he told the Stream TV crew after his win.

He has his eye set to, not just make it to states, but perform well and bring home some hardware. He admits he is thinking about trying to make weight to wrestle at 116 by season's end. But he is not sure and is finding 121 pounds to be a weight he could also manage. Last year he had a disappointing end of the season when illness prevented him from competing in states. So he is hoping this year to elevate to that next level.

Wolfkiel said he knew after his 27 win freshman season he could reach 100 wins Knowing it would take work and dedication he improved each year.. He piled on 35 wins in his sophomore year and despite a shortened post-season last year he still had 30 wins.

His coach, Mo Burns said this has been a 15 year process for Sawyer. "For him to get this in front of his home crowd (is special). We had a really good turnout and a lot of community support," he said. "We're just super, super happy for him for all the hard work he and his family have put in to get his reward tonight."

"It's something I've been working towards," Wolfkiel said. I really want to thank coach Vath and coach Thompson for really pushing us to get so much better the last few years. They volunteer their time to come in, and we really appreciate it"

Thompson is the all-time win leader at Titusville with 137 and Vath, who wrestled for Saegertown, had a ridiculous 167 carreer wins. Coach Mo Burns  recorded 113 wins at Titusville.

"I really want to thank Mo (coach Burns) for stepping up (and taking over the coaching job when it was left vacant.) and coach Huck because he has always been there for me. And I definitely want to thank my parents. So much time they have spent."
