Last week a group of young folks got a chance to not only meet the members of one of the nations oldest community bands, but they got to play along side them. The Jr. Silver Cornet band camp brought young musicians from several school districts for a weeklong camp culminating in a live performance in front of a crowd. This week, on Wednesday June 19 the band opens it's rehearsal room doors and invites the public, especially those interested in playing music to meet the band members and learn more about why this community staple continues to thrive over a century after it began. The open house rehearsal is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 19 at Franklin High School. The Silver Cornet band is open to anyonyone ninth-grade and above. |
