July registration for the Franklin Public Library's Adulting 101 series is open. The focus of this month's three workshops is on budgeting and handling money. Amber Hughes and Roz Greggs from Top Tier Federal Credit Union will discuss financial literacy from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, July 17 at the library. This workshop will include a discussion about different types of debt, loans, checking accounts, savings accounts and more. |
The second workshop will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, also at the library. Daidre Green, the teen services coordinator, will test attendees with a budget challenge. Participants will work in groups to see if they can successfully achieve a monthly budget with a predetermined budget amount. They will also be introduced to "needs" vs. "wants."
The final workshop will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 26. Participants will meet at the library at 1:45 p.m. and walk to the Northwest Bank at 1301 Liberty St. The program will include a brief summary of what types of accounts and services the bank offers and a tour of their facility.
Anyone aged 12 to 18 can register for one, two or three of the free programs. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done at oilregionlibraries.org/teens.
