Fairview's Archie Murphey hit a jump shot as the clock ran down to score a victory for the Tigers and an MVP trophy for himself in the final game of Franklin's Dick Russell Memorial Basketball Tournament.
The Knights looked poised to cruise to victory over the Tigers in the Thursday night matchup.
Franklin was up 12-3 at the end of one and 29-21 at the half.
But the Tigers came out of the locker room ready to claw back from behind, nearly matching each Franklin basket with two of their own. With less than a minute left in the third quarter the score was tied at 39 all.

It was a back-and-forth battle throughout the final eight minutes. Fairview took the lead for the first time since the start of the contest with Jeremy Frazao hit a three-pointer at 5:10 to make the score 44 to 46. Franklin answered with two foul shots by Ethan Owens to tie the game.
The two teams traded leads for the next five minutes and entered the final two minutes of the game tied at 51-51.
In the closing seconds of the game, Franklin lost the ball on a bad pass and Fairview called a timeout. With 28 seconds remaining, the Tigers set up a play to ensure they would get the final shot, walking away with the 51-53 win.

Johnathan Leccia led Franklin with 13 points on the night. Cole Buckley, who was named to the all-tournament team, finished with 11. Also scoring for Franklin was Damon Curry with eight, Aidan McCracken with seven, Wood with six and Owens with five.
Earlier in the evening, Oil City defeated Rocky Grove 60-38. The Orioles scored on the tip off, but first year head coach Ben Anderson’s squad struggled to find a good rhythm during the fast-paced contest.

Rocky Grove’s only second-quarter points came on a three-pointer by Schiffer Anderson and the Orioles went into the locker room down 10-28.
Things improved offensively in the third quarter, as Rocky Grove tripled their total, but was still outpaced by the Oilers, who had a 52-30 lead.
In the final quarter, both teams managed only eight points each and the game ended with an Oil City win, 60-38.
Oil City’s Cam VanWormer had a game-high 18 points and was the Oil City representative to the all-tournament team. Jake Hornbeck and Connor Highfield also scored in the double digits with 16 and 12 points respectively. Sayyid Donald had eight points, Will McMahon had three and Ethen Knox had three.
Quinn Ritchey led Rocky Grove with 13 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Blayne Baker had 10 points, and D’Andre Whitman and Anderson recorded eight points apiece.
