The Eagles added four more in the bottom of the third to take an 8-0 lead. Boland got Franklin on board in the fourth with a rocket over the left field fence with a runner on base. In the fifth Kirsten Hicks , Autumn Fitzgerald and Swartz had RBI's to bring the game to within string distance. A fielder's choice scored a fourth. Down 8-6 things were looking up. Then they gave up three more in the sixth. Down 11-6 Kirstin Hicks tried to get things started with a homer, and her "c'mon" yell as she made her way around third in her homer trot seamed to ignite the Knights. Riley Hanna got on base and was promptly plated by Boland's single to left. They got more runners on base but after an interference call they lost momentum and couldn't get the runners home. The 11-8 game ended Franklin's season. |
A routine ground was in and out of the first baseman's glove. Another pop foul made it into the pit, but somehow bounced back out.
Franklin's struggle with the gloves ended up accounting for four first inning runs.
Franklin's bats were also slow to get going with the first two innings failing to produce a baserunner.
In the third the Knights finally got a couple runners on base but good CASH defense shut them down
