Rocky Grove has had a struggling year at 3-14, but not like the struggling years of the past where they would be blown out and barely win a single match. They played tough but just ended up short in all but three of their 17 matches thus far. "The team worked hard all season with a lot of our matches going four and five games," said coach Mike Stevenson. They played the entire first half of the season on the road with their gym being renovated. "We struggled with passing early on," Stevenson said. "Sophomores Kaidlynn Burger and Olivia Faust really stepped up this year. Kaidlynn did some great things in the back row and was our most consistent server. Olivia continued to improve with hitting and finishing out the season with a nice jump serve." Stevenson had something positive to say about and said that he hopes the team's record doesn't prevent some of his players from being recognized with post-season honors. "Abby Cable was a force to be reconned with - with over a hundred kills this season and disrupting offenses with her blocking." "Junior Katie Beggs controlled the offense in her setting role - also having a strong jump serve. Seniors Paige Cresswell and Natalee Sloss hit from the corners and provided defense in the back row. Seniors Josie Seely and Abby Cable made their presence known out of the middle." "Katie Biggs and Cable and Abby did some amazing things throughout the season. Running quick sets out of the middle and later in the season adding some additional offense outside of the middle." |
