Franklin outscored Cochranton 10-3 down the stretch to secure the victory at home Thursday night. The Knights were led by a strong offensive showing by Estella Adams, who had a game-high 16 points, and a commanding defensive presence by Katie Boal, who had numerous blocked shots in the paint. It was a balanced offensive attack by the Knights in the first quarter, with baskets by Adams, Boal, Kirsten Hicks and Jenn Blum. The team’s strong defensive rebounding kept the Cardinals from many second chances and the Knights were ahead 9-4 after the first eight minutes of play. In the second quarter, it started to look as if the Knights were ready to walk away with the victory early, leading 20-8 before Cochranton snagged five points in the final minute of the half. The third-quarter was the most action packed in Thursday night’s contest. The two teams traded baskets and Cochranton came within striking distance of the lead, as they closed the gap to 35-33 with less and 40 seconds left in the quarter. Adams answered with two points and Franklin took the momentum into the game’s final eight minutes. Cochranton struggled to get shots through the hoop in the fourth quarter. And like icing on the cake, Boal closed out her night of strong night on the boards by grabbing the final rebound as the clock ran down. Contributing to the Knight’s offense along with Adams were Boal with 14 points, Blum with 11, Hicks with 5, Jamie Blum with two and Halle Curry with one. |
Marley Rodax led the way for the Cardinals with 11 points and Shelby McBryar with 10. Macie Williams at eight, Eve Pfeiffer had five, and Claire McCartney had two.
