If you were to cut a Christmas tree at 5'8" and asked Jack Burchard to stand next it, I'm pretty sure he'd have to look up at the star on the top. But the freshman is listed at that height on the roster so that's where we'll go from here. Arguably the littlest dude on the hardwood floor of the House of Hustle Friday, he found all five foot, ahem, eight inches of him in a very big spot. With ball in handle went into the air and floating into the lane he tossed up the game winner with only about a second left on the clock. 64-62 in overtime. |
A lot of fouls were called on Meadville and if Oil City converted more of their free throws, the game could've been a bit different. Coach Bundy Fulmer might consider a two-hour practice of nothing more than working on shots from the line.
MASH coach Mark McElhinny will be working on how his kids can avoid cheap fouls so when bad calls are made late in the game, less of his top players will foul out.
But this was a solid game and exciting to watch.
