![]() Oil City paid tribute to their two seniors, Brittin Winters and Gianna Cavalline, Monday night before taking to the court against a surging Franklin team. Franklin jumped out to a quick demoralizing lead against the Oilers leading 16-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Oilers battled a little closer the remaining three quarters but ended up losing by almost 30 points - 46 to 17. Franklin is looking strong down the stretch heading towards the playoffs. They improved to 8-2 in the region with the win over the Oilers who are having a rough season with their young team. Please see more photographs from https://sayerrich.zenfolio.com/p1065473339
![]() Rocky Grove girls basketball recognized their two seniors Saturday afternoon prior to their game against Jamestown. The game was originally supposed to be at Jamestown, but the Muskies were nice enough to switch in order for the Orioles to celebrate their seniors. Grove Athletic director Curt Bindas praised the school and players for their selfless act. The Muskies proved to be a little better on the court winning the game 35-31 in a close battle. Abby Williams and Riley Reed were praised for their leadership during tough years where the wins have been hard to come by. Later that evening the Rocky Grove boys also recognized their seniors and then cruised passed visiting Reynolds 56 -27. The boys are enjoying a solid season. Of special note, boys basketball player Dustin NcMullen saved the day when the sound system cutout prior to the girls game and the playing of the National Anthem. When Bindas indicated he couldn't get the anthem to play, several people pointed to McMullen in the crowd and he obliged. It was quite a battle with both squads struggling at times to find the net at the bottom of the basketball hoop. Free throw practice will also most certainly be a focus of the coaches as they wind closer to the playoffs where those freebies are incredibly important. Check out The Titusville Herald for the story and just check out this gem of a small town paper in general. To see more photos from the contest visit: https://sayerrich.zenfolio.com/p505185720 Franklin continues to show just how good they are or can be. In Tuesday night's contest Hickory was able to match and even end the first half with a little extra to take the lead.
During half-time coach Jason Fulmer must've given one hell of a speech and shared a plan to put super pressure on the visiting Hornets, because Franklin jumped out to a double digit lead and stayed there. The team is well rounded but Easton Fulmer had another monster 30-plus point game. And if you have to check your phone during a Knights' game, a good time to do so is when Fulmer has a free-throw, because it is just gonna go in.
