A pair of Rockets, a Knight and a Tiger just missed the podium Saturday at the Class AA Northwest Regional championships in Sharon.

Seniors Nate Stearns and Landen Wolfkiel were top the placers for Titusville, both finishing with fifth place wins.

Stearns pinned Brody Myers of Fort LeBoeuf in 1:43 to close out his career with the Rockets with 95 wins. The 133-pound senior was 36-13 this season and  was 4-2 on the weekend to record his highest placement in regionals.

Wolfkiel ended his weekend with a 5-1 decision over Burke Fleming of Brookville, who he had also defeated with a pin earlier in the tournament. The senior has a remarkably improved season at 152 over last year. Wolfkiel ended the year at 37-12. His run in the post season included a first place at sections, a fourth at districts and a fifth in regionals.

Fellow senior regional qualifiers Gavin Donaldson (160) and Kaleb Brunst (189) both went 1-2 on the weekend. Also representing the Rockets in Sharon were Sawyer Wolfkiel (114) and Parker Miller (127) who also went 1-2 and Kameron Mong (172) who was 0-2.

Cael Dailey was the lone Saturday afternoon competitor for the Franklin Knight's wrestling team. The Rocky Grove (that co=ops with Franklin) senior was 2-2 on the weekend. He finished off his career with a fifth place finish at 121 pounds by recording a 7-2 decision over
Ian O'Shea of Port Allegany. Gary Kiselka, Franklin's other regional qualifier was 2-2 but did not place in the 189 bracket.

Maplewood also had a fifth place finisher. Senior Chase Blake was 3-2 in the 127 bracket to fall just short of the podium. He won by injury default over Aiden Beimel of St. Mary's to close out his career as a Tiger. Blake earned his 100th career win last weekend and ends his career at 104-42.
