The Rocky Grove High School girls volleyball team wrapped up its season in a charitable way. On Friday, November 4, the team presented Kathy Horner, Executive Director of the Kirtland Cancer Foundation (center), with a $1,375 donation.
The Orioles raised the money during their last home game of the regular season, when they hosted Lakeview Sailors for a "Dig Pink" night on October 20. The funds were collected through shirt sales and a raffle of 25 prizes and gift baskets donated by local businesses and team parents.
Along with giving the donations to Horner, the team used the November 4 meet-up to learn about how the money will be used to help local people battling cancer.
Coach Mike Stevenson praised the team for their efforts beyond what goes "into any scorebook," he said. "A special thanks to those who donated and those who supported our event."
