It will be a holiday celebration of the four-legged kind as Pleasantville once again hosts the Christmas on Horseback parade at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 11.
All riders with horses, ponies, and mules are welcome to participate, according to Tara Nason, who organizes the event alongside Jackee Carlin and Monica Willis. “Feel free to decorate your critters up for the holiday,” Nason wrote on Facebook. “We would also like the community to come out to watch the horse parade proceed through the town.”

It is the fourth year for the parade and the first time the event is being down in collaboration with the Borough of Pleasantville, according to the group’s Facebook page.

The parade route starts on Merrick Street beside Dollar General goes down North Main Street to West State Street and ends at the Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department.

Along with the area’s only holiday horse parades, the day will include photo opportunities and meet and greets with Santa and the Grinch at the fire hall.

The parade lineup starts at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the parade, all entries will be judged in different “fun and festive” categories, and owners are invited to arrive early and decorate on site, Nason said. Parking for the horse trailers will be available at the fire hall. Animal owners should come prepared to clean up after their horses and not leave waste behind in the parking area.

“We are all looking forward to seeing everyone this holiday season,” Nason said. “So, let's get out there and spread Christmas cheer together!”
