The Lady Tigers traditionally make a lengthy journey through the postseason.
Five of those trips, in fact, have ended with Maplewood and head coach Sheila Bancroft hoisting state championship trophies.
That won’t happen this year.

Maplewood ends the year at 11-6. North East is now 9-8 and moves on to face Harbor Creek in the semifinals next week.
The Huskies, ranked No. 4 in Class 2A by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association, left no doubt in their 25-11, 25-10, 25-12 romp over Reynolds in Wednesday’s Class 2A D-10 quarterfinals. Harbor Creek moved to 19-0 with the win.
In other action on Wednesday, Sharpsville got a scare from Girard (11-6), but survived for a 25-11, 25-13, 24-26, 25-20 win.
Corry (12-3), ranked No. 10 in the state, also got a little scare, but picked up a 25-13, 25-14, 26-24 win over Lakeview (10-7).
Corry and Sharpsville will meet in the semifinals.
The D-10 quarterfinals continue today with Class 3A action.
Warren plays Meadville at 6 p.m. at Cochranton. Fort LeBoeuf then faces Grove City. Conneaut and Villa Maria have first round byes in the Class 3A tourney.
