Cranberry's sole senior wrestler, Brayden McFetridge, set the tone for the night with a pin in the first period as the home team dominated District 9 rival Redbank Valley in a Keystone Conference matchup Tuesday night at the Berry Dome.
| It was senior night at the school, which took time to honor athletes from the swimming, cheerleading, and wrestling squads. So it was fitting that the contest started with the 215 bout and immediately put the spotlight on McFetridge. He was able to pin his opponent in 48 seconds to get Cranberry on the board 6-0. Also recording pins for the Berries were Dalton Wenner (107) in 50 seconds; Alex McLaughlin (114) in 1:52; Brandon Murray (127) in 3:23; Dane Wenner (145) in 2:53; and Devin Fleeger (152) in 2:49. Conner Reszkowski earned a 19-3 technical fall in the second period of the 135-pound bout. Danny DeLong had a 17-5 major decision at 139 and Elijah Brosius had a 15-9 decision at 121. Redbank logged pins at the 160, 172 and 285, and a forfeit at 189. |   |
With the 48-24 win, the Berries improved to 5-2 on the season. They travel to Punxsutawney on today and will be closer to home Monday when they compete against Franklin at The Castle.
