The Cranberry Crushers held off the Oil City Drillers Saturday night 20-14 to claim their third straight Oil City Elementary Football league title. The skies cleared for the evening game which was pushed up a few hours when the forecast showed a better time to play would be sooner than later. These two squad's will eventually make up the Oil City High School co-op football team as the coaches pointed out at the end of the game when they put them all together for a group photo. The coaches encouraged the youth who are sixth-graders to join up in seventh grade and start building their way to being the next stars of the Oilers. |
An unfortunate mishap at the end occurred when the top of one of the two trophies fell and broke, so they might be looking for some help replacing the football top of their trophy before next year's championship. It is similar to the one pictured here above.
