The weekend started a little rough for Rocky Grove senior D'Andre Whitman. On Friday night, only a couple of minutes into the game, he found himself heading to the bench with two quick fouls. His fast and furious pace was a little out of control and it cost him. In fact, the whole team seemed plagued by foul trouble.
But Whitman never fouled out and contributed 15 points by the time the final buzzer sounded. He followed up the next day with a much more in-control effort, dominating in all aspects of the game, recording several blocks and rebounds, and even dishing the ball off to his teammates to score easy buckets. He finished with 26 points and a Player of the Tournament plaque for his trophy case.

The Orioles defeated Titusville on Friday and Cranberry Saturday to win the Roy Sanner tip-off tournament. Their aggressive play proved too much for both opponents. The Grove employed a half-court press that frustrated Cranberry and allowed the Orioles to pull away for an easy win 65-38.
The Titusville score Friday was closer and the game ended at an official score of 65-50. (The earlier reported score reflected what was displayed on the scoreboard at the end of the game 67-53).
Grove got a big unexpected surprise when, in foul trouble, they put in freshman Landen Carter who lit it up playing solid on both sides of the call and dropping in 17 points. Blayne Baker also contributed 17. Carter also got plenty of minutes on Saturday scoring a handful of points
