We are all learning together and I hope to learn more about what I am covering and the heart and soul that goes into each week as a team prepares. I have asked coach Turk recently to help me tell this story of his team better so I can showcase what they are doing to be better human beings and a team. I respect him as we talked about the program and the kids and his passion towards these young people. I look forward to telling better stories and hopefully not offending anyone with what I think is clever phrasing that is anything but. I apologize in advance if I don't make my way to Ike Friday, it truly has nothing to do with my learning about offending anyone associated with this team.
A few takeaways: the offensive line doesn't seem to close up the holes for the passing game so the drop back passes just aren't working overall. The D storms and forces scrambling and off balanced throws. The quick passes seem to be most effective, though still lack consistency from the blockers up front.
The line also struggles to open holes for running plays, though when the backs explode toward the line they have more success.
Coach Turk's offensive strategy appears to need to focus on moving the offensive line momentum forward with more quickly developing plays that don't linger in the backfield.
They lost size and muscle last year, so they need to concentrate on quickness and plays that develop before the defense can react.
