Franklin's volleyball tournament was Spiketacular

The Franklin girls volleyball team hosted 13 schools for their 19th annual Spiketacular tournament on Saturday. Coach Matt Jones was unable to attend due to being under the weather but was able to watch the live stream. His daughter Abby Greenlee (JV coach) and her husband Colton Greenlee (volunteer coach) had the task of coaching the team. 

​Jones said it was a good day for the team, who got a chance to try out different lineups. They finished a strong 6-2 behind solid serving, including 14 aces by Sydni Hoodler and six aces a piece from Abby Boland and Sydney May. They entered the tournament playoffs with a bye into the quarter-finals. There they defeated Karns City before losing a tough semi-final match to Lakeview, who they split sets with earlier in the day.

Cranberry went undefeated in pool play but lost in the semi-finals to Keystone, the eventual overall winner who went 6-2 in pool play before sweping through the playoffs.

​Rocky Grove got some valuable experience but only managed to win two games on the day, losing to Oil City in the playoffs. Oil City was even on the day, going 4-4 before beating Rocky Grove in the first round of the playoffs and losing to Keystone in the quarters.
