D’Andre Whitman and the Rocky Grove Orioles played a very controlled four quarters to defeat the visiting Reynolds Raiders 71-40. Whitman had a game-high 23 points, including a seven-point run in 90 seconds of the first quarter. He was also a monster on the boards with over 10 rebounds and five assists. Blayne Baker added 13 points, and Schiffer Anderson had 11, including three three-pointers. Alex Zinz played solid with seven points. |
Evan Wolfgong pumped in seven in the final quarter, including two layups off of downcourt dishes from Whitman and he drilled a three-pointer. Quinn Ritchey dropped in five. Josh Stevenson drove a nail in the coffin with three at the end of the game and Wyatt Bell added two. The team combined for six three-pointers. Reynolds' Haydin McLaughlin had a big third quarter scoring 11, but was shut out in the final frame ending with a team-high 17 points. The Orioles had a huge fourth quarter, scoring 30 while not missing much and taking advantage of miscues by Reynolds. Rocky Grove improved to 6-5 on the season and will travel to West Middlesex on Friday for a non-region matchup. They play their first Region 1 game on Jan. 20 when they host Kennedy Catholic.
