It looked a bit like scene after scene from Forrest Gump Friday night in Franklin as Ethen "cross the goal line" Knox just kept running and running for the end zone. The first scamper was 87 yards, he added another 80 yarder, a fifty plus yarder and he had four first half touchdowns as Oil City just plain took it to their long time rivals.

Going into the game both squads had similar records and both were struggling to constantly win. Franklin popped out looking ready for the fight, but failed to get a first down on the opening drive leading to an incredible punt by their soccer star kick Nathon Pfenningwerth pinning Oil City deep. A couple plays later Ethen "Into the daylight" Knox just totally changed the momentum in the time it took hime to run 87 yards, which wasn't very long at all.

That was it for the Knights. That series of events that took in the neighborhood of three minutes, set the tone. This was Oil City's night. It was Knox's night shattering the single game rushing mark held by Christian Cole and tting a host of others with five touchdown nights. And he is a sophomore.

Knox had another career night and the Oilers marched on to a 54 to 8 victory.

For a great write up on the game visit Route8Rivalry.com for Penny Weichel's detailed and honest account. Her website is treasure history and running account of these two programs.

Below see a few more photos from the event that was also a senior night for Franklin and a night that a wonderful act of sportsmanship was noted by coach Matt Turk as an Oil City player was concerned for a Franklin player lying injured on his back in the middle of the field. This was a beautiful moment in a game that was hard to watch from a football standpoint.

Kudos to Oil City's number 88, Cam Crocker. He should get athlete of the week.

More pictures to come from senior night, there is a cool thing that happened at halftime that I need to expand on in the coming days. Beautiful.

PS, I had a flashback moment Friday night when Knox broke free for his first score. He was headed down the center of the field, but the team on the sidelines was headed right towards me. I admit I stopped taking pictures and got the hell out of the way, the last time this happened covering an Oil City game I forced the game to be stopped and ended up in the hospital for a little while.

I love your photo's of the game, but I do not think the band and cheerleaders get the attention they deserve. They put in a lot of time practicing so they can be there to support their team, and do a great job of it. Not all of the fans are there just to watch the game, but their child in band or cheerleads perform.
