It's officially postseason tournament time for Pennsylvania high school wrestling. Titusville spent Friday evening in Meadville competing in the District 10, Section 1 championships. The Rockets have several wrestlers returning Saturday for the semi-finals and, if they are successful, the finals. Titusville's top champion prospects faired well during their quarterfinal matchups after most received a bye in the first round of action. They are all hoping for a chance to move on tonext weekend's District 10 championships. Top seven advanced. Trenton Rodgers won by technical fall (16-0) over Riley Horn of Girard in the 133 weight class. In his first match Saturday, he will face William Allen of Corry Area. Nate Stearns pinned Purna Tamang of North East in 2:16 to advance in the 139 bracket. His Saturday will kick off with a match against Blake Glass of Fort LeBoeuf. In the 145 class, Gavin Donaldson pinned Jordan Colon of Girard in 2:29. He will face off against Lucas Phelps of North East in the semi-finals. Landen Wolfkiel had two wins on the evening. In the first round, he pinned Austin Mello of Northwestern in 3:17. In the quarterfinals he upset Trey Proper of Corry Area with a 3-2 decision. His semi-final match-up will be against Steffan Lynch of North East. Brock Covell pinned Michael McGrath of North East in 0:45 to capture his 91st career win and move into the 172 semis. On Saturday he will wrestle Jessi Stempka of General McLane for a spot in the section championship match. Still alive in the consolation round bracket are Sawyer Wolfkiel (107), Coleman Huck (127), Johnathan Miller (160), Kameron Mong (189) and Burke Hancock (215) according to Pa-Wrestling.com. Andrew Donaldson (114) and Bryce Watkins (285) also competed for the Rockets. |
