The Giant Center in Hershey is a tough place to excel. It's not the size of the arena so much as the talent that comes from all over the state to compete there. One of those very talented athletes weighs in at 114-pounds or less and he will be competing in a little while in the Class AA semi-finals. He reached the semis early this morning with an overtime win over 38-3 Chase Homan of Hamburg. Dalton is now guaranteed a state medal, it's just which one that is left to be determined. It doesn't get easier the deeper you get at states. He'll face Trinity's Will Detar who is 35-3 on the season. One of Detar's three losses was to Wenner back in early January. Dalton is now 39-4 on the season. His brother Dane ran up against a couple freight trains losing 4-0 against Cameron Mingee of Littlestown in the quarters and then dropping a 5-1 decision to Marcus Gable of Philipsburg-Osceola in the consolations. Dane finished his junior year at 36-12 and has a career record of 104-32. We'll try to update this post after the semi-final round this evening. |
