Rocky Grove showed no mercy as hosts of the annual Roy Sanner Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. The Orioles were led by tournament most valuable player, Noah Baughman. The sophomore dropped in 25 points in Friday night's dismantling of Maplewood 62-32 and another 19 in a much tighter game, 45-41, against the Rockets of Titusville in the title tilt. Both games the Orioles moved the ball well and kept composure, especially against the Rockets who played aggressive defense and tested the Orioles. Rocky Grove's largely sophomore class held its own all weekend. Fellow starters Landen Carter and Aiden Focht were also named to the all-tournament team. Carter had 26 points on the weekend and Focht dropped in 18 points. Also named to the all-tournament team were Elliot Beichat of Maplewood, Cole Findley of Cranberry and Isiah Colon of Titusville. Colon was Titusville's top scorer with 21 on Friday and 20 on Saturday. Titusville was 1-1 on the weekend. The Rockets beat Cranberry 48-36. |
The Berries were also 1-1 in the tournament, with a 66-44 win over Maplewood Saturday. Scroll down for more photos of all teams at the Sanner.
