Their historic season has come to an end. The Orioles fell 20-25, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25 in the opening round of the District 10 Class 1A playoffs at the House of Thrills in Meadville. Rocky Grove, the Region 1 runner-up, finishes the season at 12-5. Cambridge Springs will face a familiar opponent in Region 2 foe Cochranton in the semifinals. The region-champion Cardinals rolled over Kennedy Catholic 25-18, 25-6, 25-7. Dana Jackson had 27 assists for Cochranton (15-2). Devyn Sokol tallied 15 kills and Jaylin McGill added seven kills. The Cards had 21 aces as a team. In other playoff action on Tuesday, Region 1 champ West Middlesex advanced with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-20 win over Erie First Christian. The Big Reds will play Saegertown in the semifinals. The Panthers cruised past Jamestown 25-15, 25-9, 25-15. Class 2A action is set for today. Reynolds takes on Harbor Creek at 6 p.m. at Meadville Area Senior High. Corry faces Lakeview in the nightcap. At Cochranton, Sharpsville and Girard square off at 6 p.m. with Maplewood and North East to follow at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, Warren plays Meadville at 6 p.m. at Cochranton.
