State cross country competition results

Franklin junior cross country duo of Caleb Prettyman and Nadalie Latchaw finished in the top quarter of finishers in their respective competition at the 2022 PIAA Cross Country competition Saturday in Hershey.

Prettyman came in 51 out of 246 in boys Class AA with a time of 
17:52.3. Oil City's Jack Mumford, junior, also competed in the AA race, placing 104th. The race was won by Rory Lieberman, a senior from Danville, who finished in 15:53.6. 

Latchaw finished 55 out of 243 girls in Class AA, improving on her placement in the 2021 AA race. Her time was 21:32.0. The winner was Harley Kletz, a senior from Montour, in 18:49.9.
The Cranberry girls improved on last year's performance by finishing sixth in t Class A  in a field of 23 teams. They were paced by the sophomores - Kelsey Hanna, who finished in 47th place out of 257 runners; Karleigh Shaffer, 56th; and Kayla Hanna, 75th. Senior Ashly Shultz was 151st, junior Jordan Montgomery was 185th and freshman Zofia Earp was 227th. It was a return trip for the Berries who finished seventh last year.

​The 2022 race was won by Virginia Kraus, a 
freshman out of District 11's Moravian Academy in a time of 18:53.8. The District 11 team from Notre Dame Gap won the team competition. ​

​In boys Class A action, Rocky Grove High School senior Evan Wolfgong finished 93rd with a time of 19:09.5. Teammate Ethan Knapp, junior, was unable to run due to suffering an injury earlier in the week. 

The Cranberry boys competed as a team, coming in 14th out of 23. Competing for Cranbery was
 senior Ben Seybert, 83; freshman Dalton Wenner, 91; sophomore Dane Wenner, 143; freshman Mariner Perry, 152; sophomore Kaleb Heath, 176; senior Noel Bunyak, 189; and freshman Thatcher Matassa, 235.
