Titusville Rockets week ending January 4

In an effort to work with other local media to get information out, We're helping our friends at The Titusville News-Journal as they build their weekly newspaper to serve the Titusville Community.

Here is a weekly sports round-up of the Titusville Rockets winter sports we put together for them.

Weekly THS Sports Roundup 
As of January 4, 2023
Boys Basketball
Record: 6-3
The Class AAA Titusville boys basketball didn't play in any holiday tournaments last week but they did host Cochranton on Dec. 28 in a non-region game defeating the Cardinals 61-55. The Rockets were scheduled to play the General McLane Lancers Wednesday (after deadline).  
Their upcoming schedule includes:

• Away at 7:15 p.m., Jan. 6 against Eisenhower
• Home at 7:15 p.m., Jan. 11 against Union City

Titusville hasn’t played a Region 6 (3A) game yet. Their first will be against Oil City on the road January 17.

Girls Basketball
Record: 2-6
Region 3 (3A) record: 1-1
On Dec. 15, the girls picked up their first region win over Iroquois 35-30. 
They did not play over the holidays but returned to action Tuesday against Sharon dropping a 47-9 decision to the visiting Lady Tigers.   ., see story on page? Or left/right.
The girls were also scheduled to play Jan. 5 against Northwestern (after deadline). 

Their upcoming schedule includes: 

• Away at 7:15 p.m., Jan. 9 at North East 
• Home at 7:15 p.m., Jan. 12 against Mercyhurst Prep

Boys Swimming
Record: 1-2
The Titusville boys last swam against Warren, defeating them 83-63 on Dec. 21 at home.
The boys were also scheduled to swim Jan. 5 against Mercyhurst Prep (after deadline). 

Their upcoming schedule includes:

• Home at 6 p.m., Jan. 9 against Oil City
• Home at 6 p.m., Jan. 12 against Slippery Rock

Girls Swimming
Record: 3-0
The Titusville girls last swam against Warren, defeating them 102-84 on Dec. 21 at home.
The girls were also scheduled to swim Jan. 5 against Mercyhurst Prep (after deadline). 

Their upcoming schedule includes: 

• Home at 6 p.m., Jan. 9 against Oil City
• Home at 6 p.m., Jan. 12 against Slippery Rock

Wrestling
Record: 6-2
Region 3 record: 2-1

The Titusville wrestling squad last competed on Dec. 22 when they defeated Eisenhower on the road. Trenton Rodgers (133), Nate Stearns (139), Gavin Donaldson (145), Landen Wolfkiel (152) and Brock Covell (172) all recorded pins. 

Their upcoming schedule includes:

• Tool City Tournament, Meadville High School, Jan. 6 and 7
• Away at 7 p.m., Jan. 11 at Youngsville
• Home at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 against Slippery Rock
